NSX Names Michael A. Watkins Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary

CHICAGO, March 23, 2006 - National Stock Exchange (NSXSM) today announced the appointment of Michael A. Watkins as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of the Exchange. In this capacity, he will be responsible for providing strategic legal counsel and support to the management, board of directors and committees of NSX.

Mr. Watkins holds a J.D. degree from Columbia University School of Law and an A.B. from Princeton University. He began his career in 1980 in Washington, DC as a staff lawyer at the Securities and Exchange Commission, Division of Market Regulation, and later at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, Division of Trading and Markets.

Prior to joining NSX, Mr. Watkins served as Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel for Wachovia Corporation. His career history also includes positions as Vice President and Senior Counsel at Fleet Financial Group, Inc., and as a corporate attorney for the New England law firm, Day, Berry & Howard, LLP.

NSX Names Michael Boland to Board of Directors

CHICAGO, March 20, 2006 - National Stock Exchange (NSXSM) today announced the appointment of Michael Boland as an Independent Director on NSX's Board of Directors.

Mr. Boland is a partner in Johnson, Madigan, Peck, Boland & Stewart, one of Washington, D.C.'s leading governmental relations consulting firms, specializing in financial services regulation, telecommunications policy and high technology taxation and regulation.

Previously, Mr. Boland served as Senior Vice President of Government Relations for Verizon Communications. Before that, he was founder and CEO of Boland & Madigan, a governmental relations consulting firm that serviced a broad range of financial services clients, among others.

He joins NSX's Board with substantial Capitol Hill experience, having served as chief counsel to the House Republican Whip from 1984 to 1987 and, before that, as senior counsel to the Republican Members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
